BRYAN BROWN
Travel Ball Coach
Coach Bryan started Powermill back in 2011 and was apart of founding WAR 2021. He is a Lincoln High baseball alumni who spent his career playing shortstop. He received a baseball scholarship to TCC where he lead the Eagles for two years before he traveled to Florida Southern College where he was drafted by the Houston Astros Organization. Bryan has been perfecting his coaching technique since 2011, and has helped players advance at all levels. His dedication, commitment, and knowledge of the game has helped players hone their skills and stand out among the competition.
CHRIS CHAVEZ
Travel Ball Coach
Coach Chavez was another WAR founder who played 6 years of professional baseball in three different organizations. He pitched 225 games professionally in which he had 80 saves, a career 2.50 ERA, and averaged 10.8 strikeouts per nine innings. In 2002, he helped Team USA to the silver medal in the Pan Am games in Mexico. He was also a three time All-Star, and a two time Relief Pitcher of the year. He was a First Team All-American at Florida State University in 1999, and is the last pitcher to throw an individual No-Hitter at FSU. Coach Chavez is now spending his days in Powermill providing lessons to fine tune every players pitching ability.
CHIPPER ANDZEL
Travel Ball Coach
Coach Andzel has been with Powermill since 2011, and was a large part in founding WAR. Chipper was a 4 year starter at Chiles High School who played Junior College Ball at Santa Fe State College. He finished his last two years at Valdosta State, and was captain of his team his senior year. Coach Chipper plans on developing full proof skills for players to use now and grow in the future.
AJ THORPE
Travel Ball Coach
Coach AJ is a Tallahassee native who graduated from Florida High in 2020. He was a 4-year starter for Florida High, as RHP and IF. Back in 2019 coach AJ was an FACA district 4-A Player of Year, and was selected to the All-Big Bend 1st team. 2-time 4A All-State selection (2019, 2020). Unfortunately like many other effected around the globe his senior season cut short due to COVID. He played junior college baseball at Cecil College in North East, Maryland, as RHP and IF. Coach AJ now spends his time shaping the youth of Tallahassee while working his way through college at Florida State University.
NICK GRAY
Travel Ball Coach
Nick Gray is a lifelong resident of Tallahassee Florida where he attended Florida High School. Nick starred at Florida High under two legendary high school coaches; Jeff Hogan and John Hollenbeck. Nick was the 2-time FACA 3A Player of the Year, a 2-Time 1st Team All-State Selection, a 2- Time 1st Team All Big-Bend Selection, and the runner-up as a senior for the prestigious Florida Dairy Farmers Mr. Baseball. Nick went on to be drafted by legendary scout Luke Wren of the Boston Red Sox in 1997.Coach Gray attended North Florida College and Mississippi Delta Community College where he was an All-Conference Selection and gain All-American honorable mention status at both schools. After junior college he attended Thomas University setting numerous offensive school records including the school’s all-time homerun leader. Coach Gray later served the United States Army and served 16 months in combat attached to the 2nd Armored Calvary Regiment in Iraq. Nick as a coach has coached at the College and High School level and had numerous players go on to play in college as well as professional baseball. Nick's eye for talent and his ability to develop players it was separates him from others.
KYLE JOWERS
Travel Ball Coach
Kyle Jowers played at Leon High school and was a 2 sport letterman. Jowers had offers from Anderson University in SC, Anderson University in Wisconsin, and Corner Stone University in Michigan. Kyle started his coaching career in 2016 and has guided players from ages 13+ ever since. He now spends his days fine tuning players showing Tallahassee what WAR is about.
